The 2011 Tri-State Corvair Convention
A great time was had by all at the 26th annual gathering of Colorado and New Mexico Corvair club members !
Corvairs of New Mexico enthusiastically hosted and welcomed Rocky Mountain Corvair Club , Pikes Peak Corvair Club and others to beautiful Red River, New Mexico June 3-5, 2011.  This was a great opportunity to get re-acquainted with old friends , talk shop and enjoy the company of those so passionately interested in the preservation and promotion of the Chevrolet Corvair and it's rightful place in innovative automotive engineering history.
Brief History of Tri-State by Steve Goodman
Steve sez: A hopefully short history of the TRI-STATE goes like this: CORSA picked Philadelphia for the 1976 convention. A terrible choice for us out west, the bi-centennial celebration of our great country and we are going to add more people to it plus the expense of the area. The three states got together (CNM/RMC/SLC) and chose Montrose Colorado as a pretty central point to meet. It was a very light duty weekend, just getting together and looking at the cars and visiting. It was meant to be a single year event. In 1986 CNM started the idea of re-starting the meet every year and rotate the host duties. They offered again Montrose Colorado. RMC and CNM both attended but SLC had no attendees and showed no interest. A new club (PPCC) however did and the tradition began using those three clubs and sadly only two states as hosting states but someone along the line decided to retain the 'TRI' name. Occasionally SLC has had members attend but the host rotation is between the clubs of Albuquerque/Colorado Springs and Denver.

In addition through the years CORSA members from Wyoming/Kansas/Washington state/ California/Iowa/Oklahoma and others have attended too. We typically use small mountain towns and the freshness of early spring in the high country is something that can't be described. This year we were at about 8900 feet in a small ski town.

Please enjoy these presentations as you recall your time at the 2011 Tri-State Corvair Meet in Red River, N.M.
